character.
name: Elphaba Thropp nickname(s): Elphie, Fabala, Fae, pb: Alecia Moore
fairy tale & character: Wicked, Elphaba (Wicked Witch Of The West) age: 21 room: A207/ Can not have a roommate doctor: Rosanne Queen
diagnosis: Acute stress disorder, Avoidant personality disorder, Conduct disorder, Aphenphosmphobia ( fear of touch), Hydrophobia (fear of water), Ophthalmophobia (fear of being stared at)
personality: Elphaba has severe anger issues, mostly caused by classmates teasing her earlier in her childhood. They thought that she was a wee bit on the strange side, because she didn't WANT to make friends or play any games. She kept to herself mostly, not wanting to interact with the other kids, and not taking any comfort in their friendship. She didn't feel the need to, as any attempt only resulted in them teasing her, creating her violent outbursts. Her behavior stemmed from not trusting anyone, never getting the love and attention that she needed when younger, then being betrayed by anyone who did call themselves a friend. Coming from a poor background, and not having toys or friends to befriend, she made friends with animals, thinking that they can talk to her. She never knew if they really could speak, or if it was just her imagination, but it didn't matter to her either way. Because of this, she is avidly against animal cruelty and a vegetarian. Its a common thing for her to befriend inanimate objects.
She prefers dressing in black, to match her dark moods, and wears gloves to avoid the human touch, not liking people touching her, or even staring at her... at all. It upsets her immensely, taking her back to when her mother kept a distance when she was a infant. She has an intense dislike of water of any kind, avoids bathes and washes herself with scented oils instead. No one knows why she has this problem, just being one of the things chalked up to her being a wee bit strange. She does not cry at any cost, as she thinks it is a weakness. Thus making people assume that she is cold and unfeeling, but she does have feelings very deep inside. Choosing to hide those, she flaunts her wicked side instead. When she is emotionally hurt, she reacts in anger instead of breaking down in tears. All the anger, bitterness, hatred, pain, turmoil, every emotion she has hidden away over the years rises to the surface in a hot rage. If you anger her, she will come at you blazing, doing everything she can to destroy you and your happiness. Sarcasm is humor to her, a game to see who can out best the other. She will not make friends at any cost. She keeps everyone at a distance. Even her family, shutting them out long ago. The more hurt she endures at the moment, the more she inflicts on anyone that passes her way, not caring who it is. She just needs a victim to unload her anger on... Nice is not in her vocabulary. history: Elphaba is the eldest child born to Frexspar and Melena Thropp. Her father was a simple minister. He married her mother at a young age, who was used to the more lavish things in life. They soon moved to a humble out of the way small town in the corner of the country, to a tiny cottage. Frex soon left his wife and love nest, however, for his ministry duties. Melena, having a hard time adjusting to her new life and surroundings, was left to amuse herself more and more with wine and medication that made her comfortably numb. As his wanderings became more frequent, that lasted for longer and longer periods of time. It was rumored that on one of her many lonely nights she conceived a child with a traveling salesman, this child being Elphaba. Her mother resented her, not fulfilling her obligations as a mother never coddled Elphaba, and the motherly bond that should have been there never was. This lead to a lot of Elphabas problems. Maybe being conceived out of sin, her mother came to the conclusion that Elphaba was evil.
When Elphaba was almost five years old, her mother conceived another girl, Rose, who was much more loved and considered the good, beautiful daughter, planting a seed of a love/hate relationship with her sister. Because of her sisters handicap, she was put in role of looking after her, as her mother was always in her own little world of being oblivious to everything but to her own needs and pleasures. Elphaba always had a burning, searing pang of jealousy from the abundance of love her mother and father showed her little sister. She thought that they should show her the same amount of love, but they didn't, only adding to more emotional problems.
At the tender age of ten, five hectic years after her sister was born, her mother died during childbirth giving birth to a son. Elphaba was put in charge of looking after two needy toddlers, and trying to deal with her mothers death at the same time. Not even having the chance to reach womanhood, she was placed in the position that put a deeper wedge in her and her fathers strained realationship. The position was placed on her shoulders of having to be more mature and stronger then she was at the time.
Growing up as a child her father accepted her as his own, her never knowing if he knew of the infidelity or not, but Elphaba was far from being a happy child. Feeling more like a tool than a family member. Never really fitting in with playtime or with other children, they mocked her and shunned her, thus being when her violent outbursts started. She soon got in the habit of picking up the first and closest thing to her, and flinging at the object of her anger. Or if they were close enough she would sink her teeth into their tender flesh. She retreated more and more into herself and farther out of society.
Some years later Elphaba went off to college. Leaving her small, dysfunctional family behind. She was forced to room with a girl that was a beautiful ray of sunshine. Her happiness made Elphaba cringe. Her roommate went out of her way to be friendly and likable to Elphaba, and it grew on her after a while. So, letting her guard down, she let the girl befriend her. Only to find out that what she thought was a friend was her mortal enemy. She went behind her back, and used all of Elphabas personal information and secrets against her to become more popular with the "IN" crowd. This was an ultimate betrayal to Elphaba.
After one of her favorite professors death, she chose to leave school and venture out on her own, cutting out all family and acquaintances. Feeling relieved of the burden of taking care of her siblings and a non existent relationship with her father, she dabbled in various, animal rights, and cruelty towards animals, and some other anti-government campaigns. While involved in these ventures. She met a handsome, very charming married man. He pursued her till she gave in. She fell head over heals in love with him. After a brief, passionate love affair he died, and the death was ruled suspicious. He never joined in her escapades, because she kept everything a total secret from him. He was found as her weakness, he became the target of the evilness that wanted to get to Elphaba, to hurt her in the worst way, and to stop her involvement. Elphaba crumbled into herself, vowing never to give her heart away again.
Soon after, she received news that her oh so loving, beautiful sister was crushed in a freak accident involving a house. Elphaba lost it, she went mad with all the unresolved issues concerning her sister, her childhood, her mothers non existent love, and her fathers distance. Everything good around her died in a violent manner. Everything inside her good died also as a result of it. She became truly wicked at this point, acting in an out of control manner, a stark raving maniac. Suffering from abnormal delusions. Imagining that she had a flying monkey as a friend, and making friends with a broomstick.
Her father, getting wind of all this, had to take drastic measures and insure his daughters safety. He scolded her, telling her this was not normal behavior, but with her what was ever normal behavior? He had to stop this madness, before she hurt herself or any other innocent bystander that got in her way. This resulted in him admitting her to Cheshire, thinking with any luck, someone would give her the help she needed to be herself again.
examples:First person example: My doctor said I must write in this thing as one of the rules here... Hmmmm... well lets see, my first day here at this "hell hole". The people seem... nice. It will bring me immense pleasure to get to know my new "friends", and so called doctors. (They seem to think I'm a little crazy) hmmm, well, let them try to prove that I really, truly am. I might as well have loads of fun while I'm here. So let the games begin. What and who do I start my trouble with first...?
Third person example,
"What The hell?" She said as the soft black lead in her pencil broke with a soft snap. She probably would have written more, if she hadn't pressed so hard onto the delicate paper with the tip of her sharpened writing utensil, making it violently break into an ugly twist.
"Well, so much for following the rules." She said sarcastically, staring at the bent piece of lead sadly hanging there at the end. She smiled wickedly, a low, evil snicker escaping from her lips, Elphaba snapped her pencil in two, carelessly chucking the pieces behind her back.
"If you are going to break... might as well be all the way... broken," She laughed softly at her own remark.
Then slowly, she pushed her newly written journal across her small desk to the edge until it dropped to the floor, with a quiet swoosh. It layed there helpless and abandoned in a crinkled mass. Elphaba stood up off her chair. Feeling no mercy for the helpless bent book she smiled down with a malicious grin, and dug her foot into the thin book, trying to force it more into the cold floor. While doing so, the hard crease in the book bit into her bare flesh. Angered by this, she picked it up and flung it into one of the walls that kept her caged in her small cell. The evil smile returned to her mouth.
She then walked over calmly to her small bed, and grabbing the mattress, she drug it down with her before ripping into it with her teeth. She reached in with her hands, pulling out all the stuffing, flinging it everywhere. She lay back, snuggling into the little white clouds of fluff that were now scattered into every inch of the squared tile she lay on. Satisfied with her efforts, she picked up a few handfuls and hugged them to her. Felling no comfort, just enjoying the softness against her skin, she lay there relishing in the destruction she has caused.
Wondering if the men dressed in white were going to come in and give her another shot. She laughed, "Well if that's the only way they can make my behave... let them..."
